User Content Agreement

Effective date: 20 July 2025

When you click “Agree” or use any interactive feature—such as reviews, comments, uploads or messaging—on books4less.co.uk (“Website”), you are bound by this Agreement in addition to our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy. Please print a copy for your records and review the latest version each time you visit.

If you do not accept every term below, do not engage with interactive features or upload any content.

1 Basis of agreement

This Agreement governs everything you post, transmit or otherwise make available on or via the Website, and any interaction you have with other users through our interactive tools.

2 Variations

We may amend this Agreement to reflect:

  • changes to our business or Website functionality;

  • legal or regulatory updates;

  • feedback from users or authorities.

Updates take effect when published with a new “Effective date”. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.

3 Content you upload

You must ensure that anything you upload:

  • states facts accurately and opinions honestly held;

  • complies with applicable laws wherever you are located and UK law;

  • is not Prohibited Content (see §6).

Uploaded material is not confidential. Keep personal or sensitive information to yourself; you are responsible for backing up your own data.

You warrant that you either:

  • own all intellectual-property rights in the content; or

  • have the lawful authority to post it and to grant the licences described below.

You further warrant that your upload does not infringe any IP, privacy or other rights of third parties.

4 Rights you grant us and other users

  • You retain ownership of your copyright.

  • By uploading, you give Butyros Ltd an irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, distribute, translate, display and create derivative works from your content in any media for any lawful purpose, and to sub-license the same.

  • You give every Website visitor a non-exclusive licence to access, copy and share your content via the Website as enabled by our features.

  • You waive any moral-rights claims you may have regarding modifications or uses of the content permitted under this Agreement.

5 Prohibited uses

You must not use the Website:

  • to distribute malware, viruses, worms or harmful code;

  • to send unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or spam;

  • for unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purposes;

  • to harm, exploit or attempt to harm minors;

  • in breach of this Agreement, our Terms of Use or any law.

6 Prohibited content

Do not upload or link to content that:

  1. Reveals confidential data of others without consent.

  2. Contains commercial promotions or links for rival businesses without our written approval.

  3. Is false, deceptive or misleading.

  4. Misrepresents your identity or affiliation.

  5. Impersonates any person or organisation.

  6. Suggests endorsement by us where none exists.

  7. Is obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening or likely to cause distress.

  8. Discriminates on protected grounds (Equality Act 2010).

  9. Infringes copyright, trade marks or other intellectual-property rights.

  10. Breaches any legal duty or court order.

  11. Is defamatory or injurious to reputation.

  12. Is sexually explicit or directs users to such material.

  13. Encourages or facilitates illegal activity.

  14. Incites violence, terrorism or hatred.

7 Our responses to breaches

If we believe you have violated this Agreement, we may—without notice and at our sole discretion:

  • issue a written warning;

  • edit, block or remove offending content;

  • suspend or terminate your account or access;

  • disclose your identity and content to rights-holders, regulators or law-enforcement;

  • start legal proceedings to recover our losses;

  • take any other action we deem appropriate.

Indemnity: You agree to indemnify Butyros Ltd against all claims, losses, costs (including full legal fees) and expenses arising from your breach of this Agreement or any content you upload.

8 No responsibility for user-generated content

Content uploaded by users is not approved or endorsed by us. We make no warranties as to its accuracy or legality and accept no liability for it. Views expressed belong to the individual authors.

9 Viruses & security

You must keep up-to-date antivirus protection. You must not introduce malicious code, attempt unauthorised access or carry out denial-of-service attacks. We may report suspected offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Links to other sites

We are not responsible for third-party websites linked from user content. Check their terms and privacy policies before use.

Links to our site

You may link to our pages only if you do so fairly, legally and without damaging our reputation or implying endorsement. We may withdraw permission at any time.

11 Conflict

If this Agreement conflicts with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy or Cookies Policy, this Agreement prevails for all matters concerning user-generated content.

12 Severance

If any clause is found illegal or unenforceable, it shall be modified or struck out to the minimum extent necessary; the remainder of the Agreement will remain in full force.

13 Assignment

We may transfer our rights and obligations under this Agreement to another entity (e.g. on a sale of business). You may not transfer yours without our written consent.

14 Waiver

Any delay or failure by us to enforce a right does not waive that right.

15 Third-party rights

Except where expressly stated, no one other than Butyros Ltd and you has rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of this Agreement.

16 Reservation of rights

All rights and remedies not expressly granted are reserved.

17 Governing law & jurisdiction

This Agreement—and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual) arising from it—shall be governed by English law. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
