Description

Lionheart
1179. Henry II is King of England, Wales, Ireland, Normandy, Brittany, and Aquitaine. The House of Plantagenet reigns supreme, but unrest brews within Henry’s house. Ferdia, an Irish nobleman captured during the conquest of his homeland, saves the life of Richard, the king’s son. In gratitude, he becomes Richard's squire, who is already a renowned warrior. Crossing the English Channel, they are thrust into a campaign against rebels in Aquitaine. The ensuing bloody battles earn Richard the legendary title of Lionheart. However, Richard’s older brother, Henry, is enraged by his sibling’s newfound fame, revealing that the greatest threat to Richard may not be the rebels or French armies, but his own family.

Crusader
KING. POLITICIAN. WARRIOR. CONQUEROR. 1189. Richard the Lionheart’s long-awaited goal is realized as he is crowned King of England. As he organizes his kingdom, he prepares for a grueling crusade to reclaim Jerusalem, accompanied by his loyal Irish follower, Ferdia. Their journey takes them from southern France to Italy, Sicily, and beyond. Just as they are poised to sail to the Holy Land, they face a bitter two-year siege and the iconic Saracen leader, Saladin. With no consensus on who should occupy the empty throne of Jerusalem, Richard’s every move is shadowed by Saladin’s massive army. The conditions are brutal, and on the dusty field of Arsuf, the Lionheart and his soldiers confront their ultimate test.

King
Warleader: Autumn 1192. With Jerusalem still in Saracen hands and a peace treaty with Saladin in place, Richard the Lionheart finally returns to his troubled kingdom, with loyal knight Ferdia by his side. They must confront Richard’s archenemy, Philippe Capet of France, and the king’s treacherous younger brother, John. Captive: Shipwrecked on the Italian coast, Richard and his companions embark on a perilous journey through enemy lands. In December 1192, Richard is captured near Vienna by Duke Leopold of Austria and later handed over to Henry VI, the Holy Roman Emperor, enduring months of captivity that stoke unrest in England.

Negotiator: After months of negotiations between Richard’s mother, Queen Alienor, and Henry VI, a bitter agreement is reached. The exorbitant ransom demanded will deplete England's treasury. Philippe Capet and John conspire to keep Richard captive longer, but their efforts fail, prompting Philippe to write to John, warning, ‘Look to yourself, the devil is loose.’ King: Crowned again to erase the shame of his captivity, Richard restores order in England, forgiving John. His next challenge is to reclaim lost territories from Philippe Capet, re-establishing dominance through alliances, strategic castles, and, when necessary, war, carving a unique path into history.
