The Forsyth Variety Company prepares for the prestigious Royal Variety Performance in 1962, a momentous occasion for the troupe. Ed Forsyth, the owner, wishes to leave a lasting legacy as he nears retirement. His son Cal has gone missing, leaving his twin sister Evie to manage the company after their mother's passing. Evie is determined to shine in her trapeze act and ensure the success of the group. Complications arise with the arrival of Hollywood star Billy Rich and his enigmatic wife Magdalene, creating tension among the performers and challenging their aspirations.
