During 1974 and 1975, the IRA unleashed a terrifying bombing campaign in London, planting seven bombs in one day across central locations. Some were defused, others were not. Now a fully-fledged detective, Jane Tennison finds herself caught in a bomb blast at Covent Garden Underground station, resulting in several deaths and many injuries. As a key witness, Jane insists she cannot identify the bomber, but when a photograph of her assisting the injured appears in the newspapers, it puts her and her family at risk from IRA retaliation.
