Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death are the four horsemen sent to bring about the end of humanity. When Pestilence arrives in Sara Burn's town, she takes drastic action to protect her loved ones by shooting him off his horse. However, Pestilence cannot be killed and captures Sara instead. As they travel together, he begins to see her bravery and compassion, challenging his mission of destruction. The story explores the conflict between duty and understanding, as both characters confront what it means to be human.
